Over the past 98 years our Church and its present surrounding buildings have undertaken very little major refurbishing
or modification work. Blackburn and Seafield Parish has one advantage in that the Church and its buildings belong to the congregation.
We must provide money raised by our own members to pay for any building or decorating work to be carried out. Looking back
over the years, many would have noticed a number of changes. Although small considering the overall size of the projects these
were nevertheless major concerns to the Congregational Board when assessing the costs.
A recent list of
projects carried out by the Church has covered many varied areas including decoration of the Church, new carpets throughout
the Church, upgrade to the kitchen to meet Health and Safety specifications, installation of a new heating system in the Church
and Halls, disabled toilet to meet government laws, the refurbishment of the gents toilet and many more, all of which have
considerable cost implications.
I’m sure if you asked many of the women and men in and around our congregation to mention an
area they would most like see refurbished, I guess the first priority would be the kitchen and the second the ladies toilet.
These are areas we would like see refurbished too. Again it takes a lot of money to install a purpose fitted kitchen and to
re-model the ladies toilet, but with your help and continued financial support we can do all these things.
